Prof. Sjoerd Harder (FAU Erlangen–Nürnberg) works in inorganic and organometallic chemistry, with a focus on developing sustainable catalysis based on abundant main-group (especially s-block) metals as alternatives to precious transition metals. His group designs highly reactive low-oxidation-state main-group metal complexes and studies their use in bond activation and challenging transformations, with applications that connect to (de)hydrogenation chemistry, hydrogen storage, and broader energy- and sustainability-related conversions.
